How does URL shortening work?
A short URL redirects to your original long URL. When someone clicks the short link, the server looks up the mapping and sends a redirect (HTTP 302) to the destination. The user ends up on your page.
Do shortened links expire?
Dokall short links remain active indefinitely unless you delete them or the service policy changes. There is no automatic expiration on created links.
Can I use short links in QR codes?
Yes. Shorter URLs produce simpler QR codes that scan more reliably at small sizes. Create a short link, then generate a QR code pointing to it. You can update the redirect destination later without reprinting the QR code.
Are shortened URLs safe to click?
Short links hide the destination URL. Use Dokall's link preview to check where a short link leads before clicking. When creating links, only shorten URLs you trust - short links can be used for phishing.
Is there a click limit?
No. Short links can be clicked unlimited times. Dokall does not throttle or cap redirects on standard short links.
